What got you into this business in the first place?
I’ve always been “the creative one”, so I was ecstatic when I figured out that I could take what I was good at and turn it into a career.
Who was a big influence in your career?
My parents have always told me to go after what I want, and to do what I love. Dad was the first person to say “did you ever think about advertising?” way-back-when, which really got my wheels spinning. Also, my favorite marketing professor who encouraged my crazy ideas and said that I “might have some potential”.
What is the thing you’re most proud of?
Being a good aunt to my nieces and nephew.
What was your most embarrassing moment in this business?
Oy, I’m not sure that I’ve had one yet…but it’s really only a matter of time!
What attracted you to Santy?
It was a mixture of the revolutionary thinking, the extraordinary work that has been produced and the fun and welcoming environment. They also told me that sometimes they take rollerblading breaks, which sounded like my kind of place!
Do you have a method for coming up with ideas and solutions for clients?
Day dreaming.
What makes a great brand?
The ability to make itself personally relevant to individuals. When people start defining themselves by your brand you know you did something right.
What driving career goals do you still have?
So many! Right now, I just want to soak everything in, learn as much as I can and spin out some awesome ideas.
What talent do you wish you had?
I’ve always wanted to be one of those cool chicks who can sing and play the guitar. Anyone who has ever been in ear-shot of my karaoke-ing would tell you that’s probably not the way to go. I settle by rocking out solo in my car.
If you had to live on a desert island, what would you miss most?
Besides my friends and family, probably Diet Coke and bad reality TV. I have always wanted to live on the beach though…so maybe it wouldn’t be half-bad!
What can’t you live without?
Laughter, love and chocolate.
What are your plans for after advertising?
I secretly want to become a make-up artist, hair dresser, writer, movie star, bakery owner. So I’ll probably work on that.
Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?
Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter mixed in, it’s incredible.
What’s your favorite sports team?
Easy- Purdue Boilermakers!
What frustrates you the most?
People who don’t try to live up to their potential. Also, people who ride unicycles and anything involving “renaissance re-enactment”.
What’s your point of view about politics?
I try to keep an open mind but definitely have my opinions. Studying political science taught me to look past party loyalties and propaganda, which is helpful I think.
Tell us about your pets?
One enormous teddy-bear of a horse named “Joplin”. Love him to pieces, had him since I was 15. I also have a dog named “Mango”, Chihuahua/Pug mix. A face only a mother could love and a named derived from a SNL skit.
What was growing up like for you?
My mom used to say I was a “strange, but wonderful child”.
Do you have any kids?
Nope, not for a while. I definitely want to some day though.
What was college like for you?
Oh, college….how can I even sum it up? Met my best friends, had some incredible moments, and learned some important things too. Definitely had way more fun than my parents ever need to know (Google: “breakfast club Purdue”, you’ll see what I mean).
